The Edmund F. Maxwell Foundation

Believing in the importance of acknowledging the fine accomplishments of high-achieving students, the Maxwell Foundation is offering financial aid of up to $5,000 per year for freshmen starting college during the 2012-2013 academic year. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years for a total of up to $20,000. Students who plan to attend accredited private colleges or universities and who are bona fide residents of Western Washington are urged to apply in early 2012. It is anticipated that scholarships for that academic year (other than renewals of previously awarded scholarships) will be limited to entering freshmen, who have combined math and reading SAT scores (not including the score on the writing section) of over 1200 (or equivalent ACT scores) and who have demonstrated financial need. The Trustees of the Foundation may also consider the applicant's scores on the writing portion of the SAT.

The scholarships are designed to provide assistance to those who have demonstrated financial need and have shown ability, aptitude and a promise of useful citizenship. Each recipient will be a living memorial to Edmund F. Maxwell.
